Correct
Documentation is vital for the import clearance process and may mean the difference
between getting your cargo quickly or having inconvenient time delays. Quite
often, inaccurate and incomplete paperwork can lead to huge storage bills of
up to a $100 per day per container held at the wharf ! Therefore, we encourage
our customers to specify document requirements when placing orders with their
overseas suppliers. This request can also be built into your Letter of Credit
, if applicable, which enforces production of paperwork before payment of goods
is made.
For Imports, it's helpful to forward any documents as soon as received,
even if they are fax copies, so that the pre-clearance process can begin.
For
Customs and Quarantine Clearance purposes, the main documents required are:
Commercial
Invoice
Packing
List
Bill
of Lading (Sea) or Air Waybill (Air)
FCL + LCL Packing Declaration HTML
or
or
**An
Air Waybill replaces the Bill of Lading in an Air Freight shipment.
Other
relevant documents supplied may include:
Origin Certificates, Preference / Origin Declarations, Letters of Credit, Fumigation
Certificate, & Insurance Certificates, just to name a few.
Export
documentation is very much similar to the above import papers and is required
to be sent to your overseas buyer so that their Customs Broker can process clearance
when cargo arrives.
